Hi , "May the 4th be with you". On the unofficial "Star Wars Day" it's a good time to reflect upon how Star Wars changed movies and how to monetize content* (Wikipedia): - Star Wars fundamentally changed the aesthetics and narratives of Hollywood films, switching the focus from deep, meaningful stories based on dramatic
conflict, themes and irony to sprawling special-effects-laden blockbusters
- Star Wars pioneered the genre pastiche, where several classic film genres are combined in one film. In Star Wars, the genres were science fiction, the Western, the war film, and the quasi-mystical epic
- It created the model for the major film trilogy and showed that merchandising rights on a film could generate more money than the film itself - 35 years later and Star Wars themed toys have generated $12
billion in revenue
- Kenner Products toy company, who were licensed to produce Star Wars figures, actually dealt with a Christmastime shortage of action figures in 1977 by selling “Early Bird Certificate Packages” through toy stores. The mail-in certificates entitled the bearer to action figures that would not be available until the spring of 1978. The package also included a cardboard display for all twelve characters—encouraging buyers to order complete sets.

Back in November of 2002 when I first hit ‘publish’ on my original (and short lived) Blogspot Blog I did so believing that this ‘blogging thing’, which I’d only just heard of, would be a bit of fun. I started for a number of reasons but in short it was curiosity and the hope of a new hobby and perhaps some new connections that drew me to it. At the time I was working three
jobs. Over time, through hard work and discipline, using the techniques I’m going to share with you in these courses, my blogs have grown from a hobby (some would say an obsession), to a part-time, then a full-time job, all the way through to a fully fledged business employing a team of people.
