Hi
I'm not sure if you heard, but today Facebook blocked content from all news (and many government and commercial) sites in Australia. Even Facebook's own Facebook page is inaccessible here. This was a backlash to the Australian government proposing new laws to get Facebook to pay news outlets for using their content.
Why does this matter to you?
Unless you're in Australia, it probably won't affect you much. But it should serve as a reminder - wherever you are - that you don't own your social media properties, you're just camping there, you must abide by those platform's rules and they can change their rules at any time.
Today's lesson is that if Facebook can play hard ball with a nation's government and shut down an entire sector's activity across their site, then we as bloggers should be very aware of how much we invest in something we don't own.
