Digital Photogrpahy School

Welcome to another Digital Photography School Newsletter.

If you are receiving this newsletter you have subscribed to DPS at some point in the last 18 months. As we've just changed newsletter services and our old service wasn't delivering emails very well this could be the first newsletter you've ever received from us.

If you do not wish to receive any more of them please click the 'unsubscribe' link at the bottom of this email. While we'd love to have you involved at DPS we do honor any requests for un-subscription.

In this week's newsletter you'll find the latest posts from the DPS blog as well as some of the hotter threads at our forums.

Have a great weekend and don't forget your digital camera!

10 DIY Lighting Hacks

DIY Flash and Lighting Hacks for Digital Photographers

By far the most popular post on the blog this week was our post highlighting 10 DIY lighting solutions that could help you achieve some great results in your photography. I especially like them because they can give you a feel for a type of lighting technique before actually investing in the gear.

These catchlights can add real impact your shot. This tutorial will talk you through what they are, how to get them and even where to position them in the eye.

Digital Photography Book - Vol 2

Digital Photography Book v2

The Digital Photography Book (vol 2) has officially been released in the last week and quite a few DPS members have bought it (and are reviewing it in the forums).

This is not a reprint or update of the very popular volume 1 - but a completely new book. It makes a good companion to the first one.

Read more about the relaunch and see other DPS reader's opinions of it on the comments of this post.

Asking Permission to Photograph People

Asking Permission to Photograph People

A reccuring question in our forums and in my inbox is about whether you need to ask permission to photograph someone when in a public place.

This post doesn't look at the law around this - but describes my own personal approach - particularly when I'm traveling in a foreign culture.
